By “sampling” we mean choosing a statistically representative subset, households, facilities, structures, to collect data for instead of reaching everyone, then drawing conclusions about the wider population with a known margin of error. Done well, it’s as trustworthy as a full census, at a fraction of the cost and time.
Collecting data in the field isn’t the hard part anymore; but rather deciding precisely where to collect and in a trustworthy way. That targeting step still happens outside the data collection tool entirely.
IASO now connects to OpenHEXA, Bluesquare’s data transformation platform to generate sampling (random, systematic, stratified, cluster, or lot-based) directly from your georegistry, and pushes the selected points straight into IASO for microplanning and field-agent assignment. Because it comes from the georegistry, targeting isn’t limited to administrative units: it can go down to a village, a household, a facility, or a single building footprint.

Take a classic coverage check under LQAS. Teams have historically picked survey points by hand, spinning a pen or a bottle at a central point and walking in the direction it lands. IASO replaces that with a verified, reproducible draw, guiding field agents turn-by-turn to their assigned GPS coordinates.
